First the Specific Models
The base model of the VIA line, this is a step above the “M” line of TomTom devices but isn’t quite as feature-rich as the ones we will break down in just a moment. You’ll still get to take advantage of a lifetime subscription to map updates and traffic, but there are some other “goodies” that you won’t get unless you grab one of the other two models reviewed below. Normal price of the TomTom VIA 1435TM is $179.99 but currently available for $129.99 (full review here).
This is the “voice command” model of the VIA line, and is just jam-packed with advanced technology to get you where you want to go without ever (EVER) having to touch your GPS unit.
Because of its advanced voice recognition technology and the inclusion of Bluetooth communication abilities, you could literally go across the country (or across the continent) without ever touching your GPS unit! The recommended retail price of the TomTom VIA 1535TM is $199.99 but currently discounted to around $125 (read the complete review).
Finally, you have the “middle-of-the-road” VIA. It gives you a free lifetime subscription to maps and traffic, some voice command capabilities (but no Bluetooth), but also provides you with a “split screen junction view” to make highway navigation easier. A good option for just a bit more money then the 1535TM. The normal price is $199.99 as well but currently available for about $150. To read the complete review, please click here.
Drivers all over North America didn’t decide to trust TomTom GPS navigation units just because of their drive to innovate on a regular basis, their 25+ year track record of creating high quality mapping in GPS solutions, or their ability to produce GPS units that aren’t ever going to cost you an arm and a leg.
They choose TomTom GPS units like those in the TomTom VIA product line because they flat out work exactly the way they are supposed to right out of the box.
A step above their entry-level GPS navigation units for vehicles, the TomTom VIA product series comes complete with incredibly rich and responsive touch screens (4.3 inches and up) and offer the same kind of complete and comprehensive navigational coverage in North America and that drivers have come to expect from this brand.
Not only that, but they also include Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity in all of the TomTom VIA products. This guarantees that you’ll be able to use your smart phone or mobile device in conjunction with these GPS units, and also take advantage of a voice activated commands so you never have to distract yourself from the task at hand – piloting your vehicle (and your passengers) to your destination safely and soundly.
You would expect that after 25+ years in the business the engineers and people responsible for designing TomTom GPS units would understand this industry better than most others – and the TomTom VIA product lineup shows that they do!
By deciding to purchase a TomTom VIA and not one of their other GPS units you’re deciding to take advantage of one of the most effective “hands-free” navigational systems out there on the market today.
Thanks to the inclusion of Bluetooth technology, communication software, and very advanced voice recognition technology built right into the unit, you are going to be able to command and control your TomTom device without ever having to take your hands off the wheel or your eyes off of the road.
This guarantees that you are able to safely and effectively navigate in cities and locations that you’ve never been before without any of the distractions that most other GPS products bring to the table. Instead of having to pay attention to and oversized device, gluing your eyes to a gigantic GPS readout, you’ll be able to talk to your TomTom VIA – and have it talk back to you – so that you get where you’re going much safer.
Combine that with 100% free lifetime map updates directly from TomTom (pushed to your device every three months for the rest of your life) and a 100% free lifetime subscription to traffic updates (pushed to your device every single day), you’re talking about a product series in the navigation in GPS industry that cannot be matched!
As mentioned above, the TomTom VIA line is nowhere near as oversized or cumbersome as some of the other GPS products out there today – and that is done on purpose.
Instead of saddling you with a tremendously oversized device that you’ll have to find a way to mount in your vehicle (and then hope that it doesn’t obstruct your view in any way), you’ll have a relatively compact but very high definition display that you can use and interact with thanks to the TomTom VIA line of GPS units.
These units are going to easily mount on your dashboard or to your windshield (or anywhere else that you can safely and securely mount it), and practically “disappear” from view when you aren’t expressly using them.
On top of that, they aren’t going to be anywhere near the “break in bait” for criminals at that those gigantic and oversized GPS units are.
Everyone (or almost everyone) knows about the legendary accuracy and comprehensive coverage that TomTom GPS satellites provide. You’ll find that 99% of the United States receives strong GPS coverage from TomTom VIA devices – and the rest of North America is almost as completely covered as well.
This gives you pinpoint accuracy no matter where you are on the continent, more than enough accuracy to get you from one point to another without any wrong turns!
The lifetime subscriptions for map updates and traffic that you are offered with the purchase of a TomTom VIA product aren’t just a marketing gimmick – they could very well last your entire life, because that’s how long your new GPS unit could be in operation!
TomTom products are manufactured out of some of the highest and construction materials and use the most advanced and energy efficient components to give you the long-lasting and durable (not to mention reliable) usage you have come to expect from this brand.
Don’t be surprised if this is the last GPS unit you ever purchase (unless a new TomTom catches your eye)!
TomTom devices are always going to be some of the best GPS units on the planet, there’s just no arguing with that.
However, even they have outdone themselves with the VIA line, as you can see above. You’d have to be at least a little bit crazy to go with any other GPS units today.
